How To Learn Chinese At Home Easily

Learn Mandarin in most easiest ways

“To learn a language is to have one more window from which to look at the world”

Learning a new language is akin to acquiring a new soul.

Certain prerequisites must be adhered to to embark on the journey of learning any language. Are you following along? Below are a few rules you should abide by when starting to learn a language from scratch.

Rule Number Zero: You might wonder why zero. Because to accomplish anything, you need a starting point for planning. This rule zero serves as your initial planning point. In this section, I’ll share my planning approach, which may vary from person to person. Therefore, tailor your plan according to your specific needs.

  1. You must maintain consistency and commitment to your plans and goals.
  2. Set a deadline by which you aim to learn 100 or 150 basic words.

  3. Ensure that you study every single day without any gaps, staying focused and avoiding excuses.
  4. Continuously remind yourself of the reasons why you are learning the language. Additionally, reward yourself with small incentives along the way.

  5. Remember, practice, practice, and practice are key.

Now that you understand why learning Chinese is important, let’s move on to how you can learn Mandarin easily. Let’s dive into it….

Number One

Start with the Basics: Many people claim that Chinese is the most complicated language because it lacks an alphabet. However, I disagree. When I began learning Chinese, I found it surprisingly straightforward. Before delving into pinyin, thoroughly memorizing the initials and finals is crucial. This foundational understanding will greatly facilitate your learning process. There are 21 initials and 38 finals that you must grasp fully; otherwise, you may struggle to comprehend pinyin.

The initials are:

“Now take a short note of the initials and finals and search on YouTube for their pronunciation. Practice them again and again.”

Number Two

Start reading Pinyin: After studying those initials and finals, try to read Pinyin from whatever books you have written in Pinyin or look on Google; you will find many. Spend at least 2 to 4 hours just reading Pinyin so that your tongue will be familiar with it. Don’t pressure yourself and move slowly.”

Number Three

Now start HSK-1: To learn the Chinese language, HSK books are the best option. What is HSK? It stands for Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi, meaning Chinese language testing, similar to IELTS. So start with HSK 1; there are 150 words with sentence practice and listening exercises. Gradually move to HSK 2, 3, 4, 5, and so on. If you read these books effortlessly, then within 6 months, you will be able to speak Chinese, no doubt. The question is, where can you find these books? If you live in a big city, you can find them at your nearest bookstore where language learning books are available, or you can buy them from Amazon. If you stay in rural areas, use online resources like chinesehsk.info (I am not affiliated with them, but they do offer free HSK books).”

Number Four

Watch Chinese movies or dramas: To learn any language, it’s really important to understand its culture. By watching Chinese dramas or movies, you can easily learn about their culture. For beginners, shows like Peppa Pig, Green Snake, Super Me, or numerous YouTube videos will help improve your skills. Throughout my whole Chinese language learning journey, I have watched almost 100 dramas. They are very attractive, and these movies or dramas not only helped to improve my skills but also helped me understand their culture and people. If you want to know about those dramas, subscribe or email me, and I’ll send you the full list.”

“Number Five

Use Netflix: Netflix is a great resource for learning a language nowadays. They have amazing features for language learners. You can subscribe to their service, which is not very expensive.”

Number Six

Use Chinese Social Media: It’s very important to connect with people who can understand your language or can help you. By using social media, you will be able to talk with Chinese people directly. You can use platforms like WeChat, QQ, Weibo, etc.”

“Last but not least, if you stick to your goals with 100% dedication and follow my tips, then there is no doubt that you will be a great speaker in Chinese within 1 year or less.”

Happy Learning, Aspirants
